Advanced Education for Military Professionals Entering Law Enforcement Careers

Law enforcement professionals dedicate their careers to their local communities just like military service men, women, and their families do for their country. At UW-Platteville, we recognize these commitments and are proud to be a Military-Friendly School for the last six consecutive years, earning a Top 10 award in the online category this year. UW-Platteville has also been awarded a Military-Friendly Spouse School. These ratings demonstrate the positive professional and academic outcomes UW-Platteville continuously strives to provide for veterans and their families.

Service members and their families are often ideal candidates for law enforcement roles, as both the military and law enforcement fields are honorable pursuits that require similar skills, including:

  • Leadership
  • Loyalty
  • Stress Management
  • Crisis Management
  • Risk Assessment

Law enforcement careers, like those in the military, require extensive training to develop and maintain expertise related to protecting and serving local communities. Members of the military looking to advance their skillset for a career in law enforcement can strengthen their education with UW-Platteville’s online graduate programs in criminal justice and child advocacy.

Because they are convenient and affordable with distinguished faculty and a strong focus on career-related goals, service members and their families are also ideal candidates for online learning.

Convenience

UW-Platteville’s online graduate programs in criminal justice and child advocacy are designed to support the needs of working professionals and their families. That’s why our coursework is delivered asynchronously with a high degree of flexibility in terms of completion time. We know that for our students to succeed both academically and professionally, they must be able to move through the program at a pace that can accommodate for a busy (and sometimes unpredictable) schedule.

Whether you are deployed overseas, just returning home, or using a spouse’s education benefits UW-Platteville offers a flexible timeline for completing the MSCJ and/or CAST programs. While the full master’s degree can be completed in as little as two years, students are allowed seven years to complete the MSCJ program.

Affordability

To assist our students in obtaining a high-quality, affordable education, UW-Platteville is pleased to honor several payment options available to reserve, active duty, and veteran service members and their families.
UW-Platteville is a proud participant of the Yellow Ribbon Program and a Department of Defense MOU participating school for students using Federal Tuition Assistance.
